3 Things I'm Loving Right Now/ A Tip for Better Conversations With Your Kids/ An Activity from the Archives/ How to Stop Relying On the iPad For A Midday Break
Hi! Welcome to Something Playful, a new feature on my Substack that includes a weekly roundup of things I love right now, small tips and tricks to make parenting and play easier, and some weekly updates—kind of like my IG stories, but on Substack.
Before I get to it, I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for being here. The world is on fire, everyone’s on edge, parenting is hard, and yet, you show up, here at The Workspace for Children, again and again, willing to listen, learn, and chat with me about your parenting experiences. You’ve allowed me to build a platform that I deeply care about, and you’ve given me a job that I love showing up for every day. I appreciate you so much.
These customizable coloring books are great for toddlers through teens. There are multiple themes to choose from and, of course, you can personalize them with your child’s name. There is a size L and a size S. I went with size small for my teen, her bestie, and my tween. All three girls loved them! If you have kids who love to color, this makes a great “just because I love you” gift.
I have been trying many different face oils for years. Some of the very high-end ones made me break out in a rash, or I liked them, but somehow my hair would end up greasy when I used them. (Is that just a me-problem?) Anyway, I am on my third bottle of this one from Merit, so it’s safe to say I love it. Light weight, not at all greasy, and super hydrating.
I bought these for my kids to use to bring snacks and lunch to school, practice, or on the go. I am so sick of them losing our non-disposable lunch containers or leaving them to rot in their lockers for days before bringing them home to wash that I decided to lighten their load and mine and give these a try. So far, so good!
Here’s the deal: If you have kids 2-8, and you want to stop relying on the iPad to get a break during the day, check out The Starter Guide to Quiet Time and Independent Play. Use the code SUBSTACK for $5 off! The offer expires 3/31. If you start implementing quiet time now, you’ll be smooth sailing for summer!
