Hi! I’m starting a new feature on my Substack: a weekly roundup of things I love right now, small tips and tricks to make parenting and play easier, and some weekly updates—kind of like my IG stories, but in Substack form.
Before I get to it, I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for being here. The world is on fire, everyone’s on edge, parenting is hard, and yet, you show up here at The Workspace for Children again and again willing to listen, learn and chat with me about your parenting experiences. You’ve allowed me to build a platform that I deeply care about, and you’ve given me a job that I love showing up for every day. I appreciate you so much.
I bought this customizable canvas tote for my twelve-year-old for Hanukkah this year, and she’s been using it nonstop. It goes with her to the pool on swim days, back and forth to school stuffed with her snow gear, and to sleepovers at her BFF’s house. With Summer coming, it will make a great beach tote. I customized it on the Bauble Bar website, but we’ve been adding new iron-on patches that we source on Etsy and locally.
We did these monogrammed beach towels for a small swim birthday party and they were a huge hit! The price ($25) was right for the quality, and the shipping was fast. I would order them again.
I saw something on Threads the other day that said, “Stop sharing your hauls and show me something that you’ve used and loved for a long time.” This snack tray is certainly it!! I have had it since 2019. I fill the bottom with ice and then the individual compartments with fruit, veggies, cheese and crackers, dip, etc., and put it out on my kitchen counter for the kids to graze on after school and before dinner. It cuts down on processed snacking and is great for a crowd.

Actually, listening to not reading for The Business Trip and The Perfect Guest. I love an audiobook while I am doing laundry, unloading the dishwasher or walking. Emotionally Resilient Tweens and Teens is not available in audio, which is fine because I like seeing my tween and teens roll their eyes at me when they see me reading it… and rereading it. It’s that good.
I put this candy dispenser frame on the wall in our mudroom, and I think it adds the perfect amount of playfulness! I am going to fill it with gum because my teens are always raiding my gum stash before they head out the door for the day. The kids love it too, but my husband thinks it looks “meh.” What do you think?
